Scripture Union Daily Guide 3rd February 2026 — Outline

Read Luke 8:1 again. Observe Jesus’ daily preoccupation (John 4:34; John 9:4) and the scope/coverage of His ministry – every town and village. How worrisome is it that many ministers and preachers of our day pitch their tents only in the city centers; whereas very few are willing to take the gospel to the rural areas? What are the likely reasons? (Philippians 3:19; Romans 16:18)

While trying to always carry His 12 disciples along with Him, certain women whose lives He had in one way or the other impacted also attended to Him. This was probably their own way of showing their appreciation (Luke 8:2-3). Has Jesus impacted your life in any way? What have you done to appreciate Him?

Jesus usually engages His teeming hearers with parables, which He later explains to His disciples (Luke 8:9-10). Can you suggest other reasons for this approach? Jesus likened the Evangelist/Missionary to a typical farmer while the seed is the word of God. As the farmer cannot determine the survival of the seeds as he scatters them, same with the preacher whose primary responsibility is to spread the word. It is God who ultimately decides which survives and which bears fruit (1 Corinthians 3:6-7).

What Next?
Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening, let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed. (Ecclesiastes 11:6).
